Installing Locator USA (ASP.NET)

Before installing the ArcWeb Site Starter Locator USA Application, make sure all requirements are satisfied.

  1. Run Setup.exe from the ESRI Web site or download it to your computer and run it from there.

  2. At the Welcome screen, click Next.

  3. Enter your ESRI Global Account username and password and click Next.This information is written to the Locator Application's web.config file. For details on the web.config file, see Configuring Locator USA Application Settings. If your ESRI Global Account does not have ArcWeb Services privileges or registered POI data, you will receive an error message. You must cancel the installation and register ArcWeb Services before you can proceed with Locator installation.

    4. Note: Installation details are placed in the install.log file in the installation directory.

  4. Accept the default or Browse to a destination folder to install the ArcWeb Site Starter Locator USA Application. Click Next.

  5. Accept the default or type an alias without spaces for the virtual directory. This is also used as the title for your application in the IIS virtual directory properties.

    Type a title to display in the Locator Application or accept the default. Click Next.

  6. Click Next at the Ready to Install the Application screen to begin installation. The files are installed in the destination folder specified in step 4.

  7. You can access Locator USA in your Web browser by typing: http://<localhost>/<virtual_directory>.

    Note: You can make simple customizations to the Locator Application by altering the web.config file. See the configuration steps for details.

To install additional instances of Locator USA on your system, run Setup.exe and choose Add a new Site Starter Locator instance in the Application Maintenance screen that displays.
